Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world.
It is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Rotary and Rotaract clubs are open to people of all cultures and ethnicities and are not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. For more than 110 years, Rotary’s people of action have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.
Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young people ages 18 to 30, who are dedicated to finding innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges while developing leadership skills and making friends from around the world.
As one of Rotary’s most significant and fastest-growing service programs, with around 250,000 members in 10,904 clubs in 184 countries and geographical areas, Rotaract has become a worldwide phenomenon.
The first Rotaract club was founded in 1968 by Charlotte North Rotary Club, located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they are sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true “partners in service” and key members of the family of Rotary.
The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.
Rotaract clubs decide how to organize and run their own clubs, manage their funds, plan, and carry out activities and service projects that are important to their communities. Rotary clubs sponsor Rotaract clubs. Rotaract, too, help to sponsor Interact clubs and offers guidance and support, working with Rotaractors as partners in service.
We provide services that better our communities, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

However, they are self-governing and self-supporting, with more than 20,372 clubs in more than 159 countries. About 465,000 young people are involved in Interact.
Club membership varies greatly. Our clubs are grouped into single, mixed, large and small groups; A collection of students body from a single school or from two or more schools in the same community.

Rotaract Sarayat El-Maadi is a community-based Rotaract Club sponsored by Rotary Club of Sarayat El-Maadi. The club was founded in 2012 and has grown to be one of Cairo’s Largest clubs.
Since our chartering in 2012, we have served the Maadi community on multiple levels. With annual projects such as our “Orphans Fun Day” where we engage with and entertain about 800 orphans in various games, music, and other fun activities throughout the day. This year, we partnered with our rotary club of Sarayat El Maadi to celebrate Orphan’s day, hosting around 100 orphans from 3 different orphanages, which was held on Friday, the 19th of April at Oasis International School.
When it comes to Ramadan, Rotaract Sarayat El-Maadi never misses the chance to recreate Ramadan spirit in its own way. Rotaract Sarayat El-Maadi distributes, annually, around a thousand packages of rice, macaroni, beans, sugar, flour, and other provisions, sufficient for a whole family during Ramadan. Daily, we distribute about 200 meals. “Iftar Tarieq” in Zahraa El-Maadi is one of our charity projects, and another means in which we extend love and devotion in our community. This year’s Ramadan projects are organized with the contribution of 11 Rotaract clubs, aiming to distribute over 2,500 meals in El-Wara’a area, starting from the middle of the month.
Furthermore, Rotaract Sarayat El Maadi has launched a number of medical convoys and blood donation campaigns jointly with Rotary and Interact clubs of Sarayat El Maadi. In addition to charity projects, we have been helping to promote the community through a series of professional development oriented sessions such as Breast Cancer, Dental Health and Attitude & Behaviour sessions.
